About Image to AVIF Converter

Image to AVIF converts JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, and BMP images to AVIF, a modern format that is usually much smaller at the same visual quality. Set one max file size (150 KB by default) and every image is saved at or under it, at the best quality that fits. Everything runs in your browser, so your images never leave your device.

How to use

  1. Drag and drop up to 10 images, or choose Browse files. Each image can be up to 25 MB.
  2. Set the Max file size with the slider or type a size in KB. The default is 150 KB.
  3. Wait while each image is fitted to your size. Large photos may also be resized to fit.
  4. Change the size anytime - the same images re-convert without uploading again.
  5. Download all images at once, as a single file or a ZIP archive.

Frequently asked questions

What is AVIF?

AVIF is a modern image format that typically produces smaller files than JPEG or PNG at similar visual quality. It is supported by current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Conversion happens entirely in your browser. Images never leave your device, and nothing is stored after you close the page.

Will every image really be under my size limit?

Yes. Each image is saved at or under the max file size. If even the lowest quality is too big, the image is scaled down until it fits. Simple images may come out much smaller than the limit because they already look perfect at a small size.

Why is my file much smaller than the limit?

Some photos, especially noisy ones, jump sharply in size between two quality levels. The tool picks the highest quality that stays under your limit, so the result can land below it. It is never over the limit.

Which formats and sizes are supported?

JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF, and BMP, up to 25 MB and 8192 x 8192 pixels each, with up to 10 images per batch. The max file size can be set from 10 KB to 2 MB.

Why does converting take a few seconds?

The tool tries several quality levels to land as close to your size limit as possible. Large photos take longer. Keep the tab open until every image shows Done.
